AV deployment and calibration

Signal chain

  1. Playback machine (48kHz/32-bit float)
  2. Redundant interface A/B
  3. Digital processor with crossover + limiter
  4. Sub arrays and tactile transducers
  5. Lighting desk cue follow

Room assumptions

  • Audience density impacts tactile perception
  • Hard-surface rooms increase perceived attack
  • Sub deployment must be adapted per ballroom geometry

Equipment tiers

Tier 1 / Full Immersion
Conference ballroom with distributed sub arrays and dedicated tactile floor zones.
  • 6+ high-output subs
  • Networked DSP
  • Lighting follow integration
  • Real-time SPL monitoring
Tier 2 / Scaled Ballroom
Moderate room size with clustered sub deployment and visual reinforcement.
  • 4 subs minimum
  • DSP with scene recall
  • Manual lighting handoff
  • Limiter verification
Tier 3 / Demo Mode
Small technical demo for planning review only.
  • 2 subs
  • Single DSP profile
  • No claim of full experience
  • Reference visuals

Placement

  • Favor symmetrical low-frequency coverage over edge loudness.
  • Keep tactile zones clear of stage rumble cancellation nodes.
  • Document room-specific nulls in calibration notes.

Calibration checklist

  • Verify pink-noise reference level before cues
  • Run phase-alignment sweep at 32Hz and 50Hz
  • Confirm limiter threshold and look-ahead
  • Capture SPL + vibration baseline snapshot
  • Sign off with operator and A1 initials
